Why are you paying more than a 10% commission to your FBA reimbursements provider?

Seriously, I want to know.

  • Are you sticking with your provider because they claim to recover more $?
  • Are you sticking with your provider because some well-known "Amazon expert" (that might not even sell on Amazon anymore) is always recommending that provider?

Look, man, you do you. But, for me, I'm going to pocket the extra cash from only paying 10% vs 25%.

BEST From Me

You should build an email list. Like, today.

"Really, Jon? That's your BEST stuff this week?"

Well, yes.

But I have receipts.

You see, in 2022, the Amazon Brand Referral Bonus team analyzed over 11 million clicks from Amazon Attribution related traffic to compare how behavior differs across marketing channels.

Guess what?

Email is, by far, the King of Conversion.

Ok, so you're onboard with me on the importance of building an email list.

The harder question to answer is...How do I build an email list?

The first answer that most Amazon experts will utter is Product Inserts.

And, yes, product inserts can be an effective way to gather customer information and build loyalty. (Especially if you employ the psychological trick that I share in the next section)

But, there's a looong lead time for product inserts to start yielding results.

To start to leverage inserts, you need to make changes to your production process.

And, if you're sitting on 6 months of stock at Amazon right now, you're probably not going to see the impact of the new inserts that you've carefully designed for 12 months from today.

So, today, I want to share an alternative email harvesting strategy, which can be turned on, basically, tomorrow.

How to Build an Email List (Faster) in 2025

Bottom-Line Up Front (BLUF)...If you want to build an email list quickly, you need to use a landing page platform and drive external traffic.

I'm partial to LandingCube, so I'm going to give a step-by-step explanation using LandingCube.

Step 1: Sign Up for LandingCube

  • Go to LandingCube and create an account. Best to connect your Amazon Seller Account to LandingCube for seamless coupon code distribution, but YMMV

Step 2: Create a Discount Landing Page

  • Click "Create Promotion" in your LandingCube dashboard.
  • Select "Landing Page" as the promotion type.
  • Enter your Amazon product URL (this will automatically pull your product details into the landing page)
  • Set Discount Type: Choose either Single-Use Promo Codes or Percentage Off.

Step 3: Customize the Landing Page

  • For your headline, create a compelling offer. Something like "Get 25% Off Our Best-Selling [Product Name] – Limited Time Only!"
  • List 3-5 key selling points and use high-quality images (from your Amazon listing works).
  • Include a clear Call-to-Action (CTA) -- e.g., "Claim Your Coupon Now!"
  • Enable Email Capture so visitors must enter their email before receiving the coupon code.

Step 4: Integrate Your Email Service

LandingCube allows integration with popular email marketing platforms like Mailchimp, Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign, etc.

  • Go to Settings > Integrations in your LandingCube dashboard.
  • Connect your email service provider.
  • Set up an email sequence to welcome new subscribers and nurture them:
    • Email 1 (Instant): "Here's Your Discount Code for [Product Name]!"
    • Email 2 (3 Days Later): "Tips on How to Get the Best Out of [Product]."
    • Email 3 (7 Days Later): "We'd Love Your Feedback – How Are You Liking [Product]?"

Step 5: Drive Traffic to Your Landing Page

  • Facebook Ads: Set up a campaign targeting your ideal customers. Use interest-based targeting (e.g., competitors, relevant products) and test Video Ads or Carousel Ads highlighting your product's benefits.
  • Instagram Ads: Run story ads or feed ads with engaging visuals.
  • Google Ads: Use keyword-targeted ads to reach searchers actively looking for products like yours.
  • Influencers: Partner with niche influencers to promote your landing page link.

Step 6: Optimize for Conversions

  • A/B Test different headlines, images, and CTAs in LandingCube.
  • Track performance using LandingCube's analytics dashboard.
  • Monitor Ad Performance. For Facebook track Cost-Per-Lead (CPL) and Click-Through Rate (CTR). For Google, focus on Conversion Rate (CVR) and Cost-Per-Click (CPC).

Step 7: Leverage Amazon's Brand Referral Bonus

  • Enroll in the Brand Referral Bonus Program in Seller Central.
  • Use Amazon Attribution Links instead of a direct product URL in LandingCube so that you earn a 10% commission back on sales from external traffic.

BEST from my Inbox

Like I said above, there's a looong lead time for product inserts to start yielding results.

But, if you're OK with that, and you're looking for product insert inspiration, in the Amazon Private Label Pathway, there's a file with 75 Product Insert Templates.

So there's that.

If you want to be a bit more outside-the-box, you might consider "handwritten" product inserts.

Because, according to a 2022 study, handwritten notes that accompany products increase future product sales by up to 2X.

"But, Jon, I don't have time to write out tens of thousands of notes."

Of course you don't. I don't either.

Use a service like Simply Noted for that.

This week in Best@Amazon, I told you how to build an email list.

In next week's Best@Amazon, I'll be writing about how to write great emails.

Easier said than done.

But, there are some shortcuts.

In the mean time, if you already have an email list -- but it's cold -- here are some ways that you can re-engage with your audience.
