BEST From Me

Today, I continue The Insider Series. If you missed the previous issues, you can find them โ€‹hereโ€‹.

For this next installment of The Insider Series, I'm sitting down with Danan Coleman, Founder and CEO of Ecom Triage.

Ecom Triage is one of the leaders in the Reputation Management space. Or, "negative review removal" as many people know it, colloquially.

Many people don't know that Amazon product reviews can be removed (newsflash: they can).

And, for those that do, they've run into so many walls with Amazon that they've just shrugged and given up.

Well, Danan and his team have built sophisticated tech to 1) identify critical reviews that *could* be removed and 2) actually *get* those reviews removed (with a high success rate -- see more below).

So, without further ado, here's my chat with Danan!

*

So, Danan, when it comes to removing negative reviews, one question I always wonder is...Do you see higher review removal success rates in certain categories compared to others?

Yes. Supplements have the highest removal rate followed by Beauty and Electronics.

โ€‹
How far back can you go in removing negative reviews? Do you find that older reviews are harder/easier to remove than newer reviews?

We can go all the way back, but this depends on how many reviews there are. As you likely know, Amazon only displays the last 100 reviews for each star rating (donโ€™t get me started on how I feel it should be illegal to hide public evidence that makes up the rating of a product). We are able to get significantly more than that, but we donโ€™t often get 100%. With that said, we typically do get the ones that contain some kind of violation.

โ€‹
You and I have talked about how there are two forms of "IP" in negative review removal: 1) identification of reviews that are potentially eligible for removal and 2) case management and escalations with Amazon to actually get the reviews removed. Can you speak to each of these, and talk about where Ecom Triage really sets itself apart?

Yes. The identification aspect is actually fairly straightforward. It's just a pain to do manually. I've been working on a GPT: https://chatgpt.com/g/g-ENCmr797o-review-analysis-by-ecom-triage. You can definitely paste a Title and Body of a review and get an answer.

I'm working on you being able to take an Amazon URL when you filter on your critical reviews, but that's not working yet. I am also testing uploading a document with all of your critical reviews. I'm ALSO working on a review downloader to help with this. This was a long answer...

Basically, I'm working on it! In regards to how eCom Triage sets itself apart, it's the willingness to persist and put the time and effort into helping your brand.

โ€‹
โ€‹What's a dirty little secret about the negative review removal industry that you would want people to know?

I hardly think it's a secret, but the biggest thing I think is that Amazon claims to enforce their rules but they don't really.
โ€‹

Why shouldn't brands/sellers try to remove negative reviews on their own? Put differently, why should they outsource to you?

They absolutely should! But the reason they outsource to me and my team is that brands don't have enough success to make it worth the time spent to get reviews removed. Not to mention they don't have the protocols and Amazon teams to go to.

โ€‹
โ€‹We talked about this before, but can you maybe share with Best@Amazon readers your (perhaps contrarian?) outlook on the "negative review removal" industry?

Yep. I think it is USDA certified bull shit. There is absolutely NO reason that I should have to offer this as a paid service. It should be as simple as it is to have negative feedback removed. But Amazon makes it SO HARD that even PAYING for a Strategic Account Services rep is unable to help most of the time.

โ€‹
โ€‹What's the best way for people to get a hold of you to help with negative review removal, and are you able to offer any special deals for Best@Amazon readers?

Anyone that goes to ecomtriage.com and mentions that they heard about this from Best@Amazon (there's a required field in the form), I will waive the $500 onboarding fee!

Thanks, Danan, for contributing to The Insider Series!

You didn't?

Good, because there wasn't one.
